PRINCESS DIANA AND FASHION
Princess Diana was a natural when it came to fashion. From the simplest to the glamour she set the fashion trends across the world.
She wore the creations of British designers and her fashion graced the cover of magazines and newspapers worldwide. She set the trends in fashion for twenty years.

Princess Diana auctioned her clothes to raise money for charity. Christies in New York raised over two million sterling by auctioning 79 of her dresses.

In July 1992 she was photographed in a Catherine Walker dress. It had very gentle colourings, decorous cut and a flattering line.

In 1989 while in Nigeria she also was wearing a Catherine Walker dress. It was a romantic printed silk chiffon dress.

Designer Catherine Walker seemed to know exactly the mood Princess Diana was trying to create. In 1989 Princess Diana wore a spectacular dress to the premiere of Dangerous Liaisons.

A Victor Edelstein design it was pastiche of a tailcoat in black velvet and ribbed silk braid with paste buttons. In 1992 for an Indian tour Princess Diana wore another Catherine Walker design with beadwork that resembled the border of a Moghul pinting.

HER FASHION

For her charity field work Princess Diana wore navy blazers, white shirts and long dark skirts. The nineties found Diana adapt the suit as her uniform.

In 1992 Princess Diana attended a reception at Buckingham Palace in another Catherine Walker dress that was cream satin with pearl and sequin embroidery. In 1997 when Princess Diana opened a ward at the Middlesex hospital she wore a discreet navy blue working suit by Victor Edelstein.

One of Princess Dianas favorite evening dresses was also a Victor Edelstein design. It was a fushia pink silk column with a draped bodice.

At the Anandaban Leprosy Mission in Nepal she wore a pink jacket and spotted dress by Paul Costelloe.

In 1989 Princess Diana attended the British Fashion Awards wearing a Catherine Walker design. It was a strapless dress and jacket in white crepe that was scattered with sequins and pearls.

To make her speach at the National Childrens Hospital she wore a gently cut pale pink suit with notched lapels and brass buttons.

Princess Dianas jackets had special design. They were interlined and toughened so that they never creased.

The designers learned to work in a special way for Princess Diana. Princess Diana had a beautiful gym tuned figure that delighted fashion designers.

For a trip to Brazil Princess Diana wore a Catherine Walker one sleeved dress with shaded sequin flowers and beaded boarder. In 1992 she wore another Catherine Walker design. A smauve sheath dress with a bolero of embroidered pastel flowers.

During a charity function at the London Hilton Princess Diana wore a bottle green executive suit by Amando Wakely.

Without a doubt the most famous dress Princess Diana ever wore was on her visit to the USA when she wore a Christina Stambolian design. The briefest off the shoulder black chiffon with a scarf panel flying behind her from the waist. She wore it with high heels, the reddest nail polish and the biggest sapphire in London.
